Divide and Conquer. But Divided We Fall.
Divide and conquer is a great approach to solving a single problem. Break it up into parts, allocate the best person for each job, get it done, all pulling in one direction.
But all too often divide and conquer becomes divide and fall.
Make sure that everyone is clear on the brief and what their role is, and what their deliverables are, and when.
Flat structures and multi-supplier teams are no excuse for lack of direction and lack of leadership.
